"Clients love our salon! From the moment people walk in, they find our salon very comfortable, welcoming and warm, which I think helps sell what we offer here. Every day people come in and tell me there aren't any other salons like this in Des Moines. It makes me feel good to know that I have a really beautiful salon. The only downside is that every young person just out of beauty school would like to work in an environment like this, but I just can't hire them all.

I chose custom design because I had admired Inner-Salon's work at the Chicago/Midwest Show for many years. Instead of just buying stock furniture, Inner-Salon offered something I could put my own ideas and creativity into. Working with them was a good way to bring out my personality in my salon. I couldn't have achieved the results I did without them. Estillo is Spanish for "style" and I wanted my salon to have more of a Spanish feel, which Inner-Salon was able to achieve. I knew what I wanted visually, but I don't have the talent to do the design and production. I needed someone like Inner-Salon to help me through that process.

I also didn't find it a problem working with Inner-Salon long-distance. While I had considered a local designer, he'd already done several salons in Des Moines, and I wanted somebody who could provide a different look. Inner-Salon's projects are very original and customized to each salon. They also have a system of manufacturing and woodworking, which I thought would flow more easily than the local supplier. During the process, I was able to sit down with Curt [Brannon, Inner-Salon President] and review blueprints to determine what I did and didn't like. Once they knew what I didn't like about a plan, they were able to develop what I wanted. In addition, Inner-Salon had all of the furnishings and equipment ready on time and went above and beyond when I wasn't able to have them delivered right away, due to unfortunate circumstances. The building for my salon fell during its construction and Curt held my furniture in storage for about 3-6 months. A lot of people might not have done that. So, even though I was in Des Moines, Inner-Salon was in Omaha and the designer was in Florida at the time, it all worked out really well. I think my creativity as a hair dresser helped, and I think most other salon owners would feel the same way.
