[1] Why Custom Fixtures and Cabinets? First of all "Custom" is not one-size-fits-all. Paper or plastic! Bigger is better! Like hairdressing.... "Custom" is a creative license, enabling you to push the envelope at every level. When it comes to salon & spa furniture, your salon environment sets the stage for your clients' experience. Whether this is a positive or negative experience largely depends on two things - the attitude and ability of people who work in the salon and the atmosphere your salon environment offers. If you want a one-of-kind look and feel for your salon, custom design is the best way to achieve it. In the words of some of our clients: "We chose custom design because we didn't want anyone else's look. I think you need to put the money into good, quality design - designs that nobody else has. Why go with average when you can get something unique?" - Connie Hanneken, Studio Bodair, Lakeville, MN
"For this salon, I chose custom design cabinetry and fixtures because I felt it would make a statement. No matter how busy the salon is, it has a calming effect. Inner-Salon's furnishing and cabinetry play a big part in that." - Mark Constantino, M.Constantino's Salon & Spa, Omaha, NE
[2] Why Custom for Me? One of the biggest business success stories of the 1990s has been Dell Computers. Their mission was simple - not to produce another box computer sold in retail outlets, but rather, to offer a custom, made-to-order product. You can order a Dell computer the way you want, with every detail, every option, just the way you want it. Our concept at Inner-Salon Designs is the same. So, is custom more expensive? We don't believe it is for this reason - you simply can't compare custom furniture to mass-produced, limited-option furniture. Consider how much more you would have to pay a high-production manufacturer to produce your custom designs with all the options you've chosen. You are going to find it's not how much you spend; it's what you get in return that determines its value. In the "Old Days" when you ordered a new car it took 3 - 6 months to build. With today's technology it is possible to get a Saturn automobile built just the way you want it in 2-3 weeks! We work the same way - offering great value with a quick turn-around.
[3] Can't I Get the Same Thing from My Local Supplier? Possibly, but what we have found is that most of our projects come from salons and spas who have already dealt with their local distributors in the past. They know how limited the services often are with these distributors, which is why they are seeking a company like ours. These owners may have tried to go it on their own the first time, and now see the value of the services and products we can offer. Frequently, salons come to use assuming we are more expensive because their local supplier "said so". This is not true in most cases. Remember, we build the furniture and you buy it directly from us, thus eliminating middlemen and markup costs. We have national buying power, which further lowers the cost to you. We aren't afraid of competition and recommend our clients shop around, ask a lot of questions and get the facts first - then call us to compare. In the words of one of our clients: "We couldn't have gotten the same results with a local supplier. We started the design process with a local designer and our architects. When we began working with Inner-Salon, they were able to expand and improve upon our ideas for the interior design of our salon, where the local supplier was not." - Connie Hanneken, Studio Bodair, Lakeville, MN
[4] Do I Really Need a Salon Designer? We think so! Think of it this way.... Do I really need a hair designer to color my hair? The answer is obvious if you have a professional result in mind. Deb Spaeth, our lead designer, is a licensed interior designer who has been exclusively designing salons and spas for over 13 years. She is always commenting on how rapidly the industry is changing. You cannot afford to make large costly mistakes, while cutting small corners trying to save money. A salon designer can help you to avoid those mistakes. In the words of our clients: "Inner-Salon's designers really take a lot of time with you, determining what your needs are, and then working with you to provide you with what you want." - Kris Caputo, Scissori's Hair Salon, Omaha, NE
"If you want a creative salon, an environment that clients feel comfortable in, as well as a professional atmosphere - Inner-Salon can make that dream come true!" - Cindy Landa, Estilo, Des Moines, IA
So the answer is yes! A qualified staff of planners can help you to maximize your dreams!
[5] How Much Does it Cost? Nothing! Our goal is to be your one source for all of your fixtures and equipment; and to assist you in the selection of additional materials, such as carpet, tile, lighting and wall covering. Here's how it ends up costing you nothing. Before we start the process you will need to initiate a simple ‘Handshake Agreement'. This agreement explains that our service rates are $40.00 - $60.00 per hour of design time, with a design fee not of $1.25 per square foot. For every dollar you invest in design services, you must purchase $25.00 in fixtures and equipment. This does not include items that we specify for you in the design, but do not supply, such as lighting, flooring and wall treatments. Example: If your salon is 2500 Square feet, the maximum design fee charge would be $3,125. For this we provide you with an approved conceptual floor plan, along with an estimate for your fixtures and equipment. For the designs to cost you nothing, you must spend a minimum of $78,125.00 on fixtures and equipment. If your total purchase of fixtures and equipment equals less than $78,125, the remaining design fee would be pro-rated accordingly. We believe so strongly in the value of our services that we encourage prospective clients to consult with other professionals and compare fees. You will save money when you "plan the work... then work the plan"!
[6] I Just Want to Get Started...How Long Does it Take? We know you're anxious to start... and that's great! Although this may be your first time, we've been here 300 times.... Just take a deep breath and let's do it right. First, let's talk about your lease. If this is the first time you've negotiated a lease, you should call us and we can walk you through it, or we can mail you specific information on how to do it yourself. Assuming you have a lease in the works, the following time line should help. Remember this is just an estimated timeline for an average project; yours could take longer, depending on the circumstances. However, we always do our best to develop a plan that fits your time constraints. And, once we commit to a deadline, we make sure we meet it. Take it from our clients: "The process of working with Inner-Salon was excellent! I had a really tight timeline for opening this salon. And, while some people thought we'd never be able to open by my deadline, the people at Inner-Salon assured me we would make it - and we did!" - Mark Constantino, M. Constantino's Salon & Spa, Omaha, NE
[7] I'm Nervous to Use an Out-of-State Company. You're not alone. Many people have initial reservations about working with a company over a distance. Many prospective clients who first hear about us are a little reluctant because we may be 2,000 miles apart. To help ease your mind, we invite you to talk over your concerns with our former clients and discuss their experience first hand. Just ask - we would be more than happy to provide a list of references. And by all means, check with your local Better Business Bureau (BBB) - you will find we are members in good standing. Oh, by the way, did you know you can't just join the BBB - you must be invited to join? A business can only become a member after years of ethical and higher standards of business practice. So it's a good thing to check... you may want to investigate your local suppliers as well. Take it from our clients: "We didn't really have any concerns about using an out-of-state company. We took a look at their work and liked what we saw. We did visit Inner-Salon's showroom in Omaha and did a lot of our work with them over the phone. I thought the process went very smoothly. It worked out really well." - Dawnae Summy, Beyond Beauty, Leawood, KS
[8] Oh! By the Way, Have You Ever Done a Project in My State? Our business has taken us to many states... 35 of them so far! The red colored states are those that we have completed projects in. So as you can see, we are well equipped to serve you -wherever you are.
[9] Do you come to me, or do I come to you? Inner-Salon offers a variety of options for our long-distance clients. Essentially, the entire project can be completed easily without a single, in-person visit. In today's virtual world, utilizing phone, fax and e-mail, we can conduct the entire project without even seeing the space, as long we have accurate blue prints to go from. Some people enjoy a more hands-on approach, and elect to come to us and make a day of it - meeting the Inner-Salon team, touring our facility, and exploring many of our local projects. The excitement of picking out all of the furnishings first-hand certainly enhances the buying experience. We will both know when the time is right and will send you a round-trip ticket, provide hotel accommodations, and introduce you to some of the Midwest's finest food. We feel that “breaking bread" is a great way to finalize the details - compliments of the house! And, should we need for any reason to visit your space during the process, we will be more than happy to work out those details as well.
[10] OK... How do I Get Started? Consultation: the first step is your commitment of time. Your project is very important, and we want to give you the time and space that you need, imposing as little as possible. To start, we would like to conduct a 40-minute meeting or conference call to discuss your project in depth. We can conduct the interview anytime - in the evening or over the weekend - whenever and wherever it is most convenient for you. To get your project started on the road to completion, we would love to conduct our consultations as soon as your time allows. During this initial consultation, you may select the services you are interested in having us provide.
[11] Our Services! In order to achieve our goal of becoming your one-stop-shop for custom salon design and furnishings, Inner-Salon provides the following array of services:
All of the above services are available to you at anytime during the process. We would relish a chance to work together and help make your dreams a reality!
[12] Do You Have Finance Options? Yes. And to more thoroughly answer this question, we would be happy to send you a 25-page comprehensive booklet discussing the ins-and-outs of our financing options. Should you need this additional information, please e-mail us or call 1-800-652-1923.
